How the iPen Works
The iPen GPT: Quick Start Guide
Welcome to your new iPen GPT! This guide will walk you through setting up and using your intelligent scanning device.
1. Unboxing and Initial Charge
-
Unpack Your Device: Carefully remove your iPen GPT from its packaging. Verify that all included accessories are present: the USB charging cable, user manual, protective case, and screen protector.
-
Charge Your Pen: Connect the provided USB cable to the charging port on your iPen (typically located discreetly on the side or beneath the clip). Plug the other end into a USB power source, such as a computer or wall adapter. Allow approximately 1-2 hours for a full charge. A complete charge ensures optimal performance and uninterrupted usage.
2. Powering On Your iPen
-
Activate Device: Press and hold the power button for a few seconds. The pen's HD screen will illuminate and display a "Welcome" message, indicating that it is powering on.
3. Connecting to Wi-Fi (Optional for Enhanced Features)
-
Access Settings: Navigate to the "Settings" menu on the pen's HD screen.
-
Establish Connection: Select your preferred Wi-Fi network from the available options. Enter the password and wait for the connection to be established.
-
Important Note: The iPen is compatible with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only and does not support 5G networks.
-
Connectivity Benefits: A Wi-Fi connection is essential for accessing online features such as AI assistance, real-time online search, and cloud synchronization. However, the pen still supports offline text scanning and translation for over 60 languages without an internet connection.
-
4. Scanning Text with Your iPen
-
Launch SmartAI App: Once your pen is powered on, locate and tap the "SmartAI" application icon on the HD screen. This is the primary interface for all scanning and AI functionalities.
-
Prepare for Scan: Within the SmartAI app, tap the scanning icon (located in the bottom-left corner of the screen) to activate scanning mode.
-
Alternative Input Methods: Should you prefer, you can seamlessly switch to voice input or a virtual keyboard by tapping their respective icons at the bottom of the screen.
-
Proper Pen Grip: Hold the iPen comfortably, as you would a traditional writing instrument, ensuring the scanning tip is oriented towards the text.
-
Execute Scan: Gently place the scanning tip onto the desired text. Press the scan button (typically located on the side of the pen) and move the pen slowly and steadily across the line of text. The captured text will be instantly displayed on the HD screen. If the text-to-speech function is enabled, the pen will also read the text aloud.
-
Pro Tip: For optimal accuracy, scan on a flat surface and maintain a consistent, deliberate scanning motion.
-
5. Utilizing the AI Feature for Problem Solving
-
Scan a Question: Employ the scanning method described in Step 4 to scan a printed question (e.g., a math problem from a textbook). The pen's integrated AI will process the input and provide the answer, which will be displayed on the screen or spoken aloud.
-
Voice Input for Questions: For questions not in printed format, utilize the voice recording feature. Press the dedicated voice record button (refer to your user manual for its precise location) and articulate your question clearly. The AI will then generate a response. This feature is ideal for custom queries, simplifying complex explanations, or asking follow-up questions.
6. Recording Voice Notes
-
Initiate Recording: Press the voice recording button to begin capturing audio. This function is invaluable for lectures, meetings, interviews, or any situation requiring audio note-taking.
-
Save and Playback: To conclude a recording, simply press the voice recording button again. Recorded notes can be accessed and played back directly via the pen's interface or transferred to an external storage device.
7. Exploring Additional Features
-
Text-to-Speech: Enhance your reading experience by enabling the text-to-speech function in the settings. This feature converts scanned text into spoken audio, which is particularly beneficial for individuals with reading difficulties.
-
Multimedia & Storage: Your iPen includes a built-in camera, Bluetooth connectivity, music playback capabilities, and ample file storage. Access these features through the pen's intuitive screen interface to play music, manage scanned files, and more.
-
AI Credit System: Your ScanSense AI Pen comes pre-loaded with 2,500 AI credits, which are consumed when utilizing AI-powered features such as question answering. These credits are designed to last for an extended period. Additional credits can be purchased if required.
8. Powering Down and Storage
-
Turn Off Device: To conserve battery life, press and hold the power button until the pen powers off.
-
Safe Storage: Always store your iPen in its protective case or a secure location to prevent any potential damage to the scanning tip or screen.
